Snorkeling Classes
Classes are run on a semi-private basis. Private classes are also available. We specialize in snorkeling here at Sea Sports, and we would love to share that knowledge with you! Please give us a call for more details.

Snorkeling Tours
For those who quest adventure, snorkeling affords the opportunity to explore underwater with a minimal training. The Cape is the perfect place to do so, whether in the ocean or one of our many beautiful fresh water ponds. You will enter a new world and experience an actual aquatic ecosystem.
All levels of ability invited, from shallow water “bend at the waist and look” to “breath-hold” diving. This means that snorkeling is equally enjoyable and approachable for everyone from families with young children to adventurous outdoor enthusiasts.

• Your snorkeling experience is geared to your personal comfort level and ability.
• Snorkeling tours are led by an experienced guide and naturalist.
• Separate equipment rentals are available.
• With the warmth of a wet suit, seasonal weather conditions and water temperatures are less of a factor, making snorkeling easily enjoyable from spring through early fall.
• Tour itinerary is determined by wind and tide conditions.
• Snorkeling classes, private instruction and customized tours are also available.

KAYAK TOURS AND LESSONS INFO SHEET
Cape Cod Sea Sports will supply your kayak, PFD, paddle, and certified instructor…almost everything you need to fully enjoy your kayak tour or lesson. There are, however, a few extra things that we encourage you to bring along.
These include:
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Full water bottle
- Sunglasses
- Baseball hat
- Waterproof shoes or sandals
- Extra pair of dry clothes for after the paddle
- Bars and snacks
- Camera, binoculars, etc. ( Just remember they’ll need to be in a waterproof bag in order to ensure they’ll stay dry)
How to dress:
Polypropolene materials are ideal for paddle sports, because they won’t get heavy and cold once they are wet. If you don’t have polypro, anything other than cotton will be best! Wear or bring a bathing suit and make sure you’re wearing shoes that can get wet. Hats and sunglasses are important on a sunny day because they keep you hydrated and protected from the sun.
Fun fact: Not wearing sunglasses means you blink more…which means your body uses more water to keep your eyes wet and you dehydrate more quickly!

Quick Start Your Kayak :
$65 Dates:
Quick Start is a brief, three-hour introduction to paddling a kayak. Students are presented with basic information on simple rescues, potential hazards, and dressing to paddle safely. A simple paddle skill set is presented and practiced, allowing students to safely and comfortably maneuver on still water. While designed as a stand-alone course, Quick Start students often progress to the introduction to Kayaking course to acquire greater paddling skill through significantly more guided, on-water practice time.

Introduction to Kayaking:$120
Introduction to Kayaking is a six-hour course focusing on skills needed for any type of kayak including but not limited to sit on tops, recreational, folding and inflatable. Presentations include dressing to paddle safely and potential paddling hazards. Simple rescues are demonstrated by the instructor combined with the paddling skills practiced by students to maneuver safely and comfortably on still water.
Flat-water Kayak Safety and Rescue: $95
Introduces essential flat-water safety practices and rescue techniques that can be performed with a minimum of equipment, in the first few minutes of an emergency.
Essentials of Kayak Touring: $145.00
This is an eight-hour course focused on helping the student learn to travel safely and efficiently by kayak. Emphasis is placed on practicing a rescue sequence, understanding the basics of tides and currents, use of a compass (safety bearing), rules for paddling channels with and without boat traffic, use of a VHF radio and weather radio and other emergency equipment.
Dive Schedule: '12
Thursday night beach dives: This year the dives are going to be run on THURSDAY evenings starting on June 14th 2012. Cost is $25.00 and location is dependent on weather and tides.

SCUBA Classes
Get Certified!
Join us for the adventure of a lifetime! At Sea Sports, we provide top-notch, semi-private instruction through NAUI. Our goal is to make you confident and comfortable in the water, and to have fun doing it. We start with the basics, and through a gradual progression of games and skills, proceed to the more complex skills at your pace. Our experienced instructors teach in a low stress and enjoyable pace.
Courses:
Open Water Scuba Course: Offered year round: the Open Water Scuba course is taught two nights a week for five or six sessions, depending on class size (typically 4-6 people). That evening sessions are followed by a weekend of "Open Water Dives" . We offer traditional as well as flexible home study programs. If you need flexible scheduling, the home study course is a great option.
Total cost for the course $450. That includes everything needed to become a certified scuba diver, books, c-card, and use of scuba hardware throughout the open water dives. We only ask that students come with their own mask, snorkel, and boots. Here at the store we sell a great selection of masks, snorkels, and boots, as well as any other gear you need, in price ranges to fit all budgets.
Ocean Dives: Every effort is made to conduct the open water portion of the course in an ocean environment.
Tropical Referral Program: In colder months, students can do their open water dives in warm water! Just let us know, and after your classroom and pool sessions we'll send you off on vacation with a referral form to bring with you stating you finished all your academic work for the class. Then on vacation, you just get to dive!

SCUBA Products and Rentals
For those of you interested in diving, those just certified, and those who have been enjoying the depths surrounding the Cape for years, Sea Sports is the store for you. Here at Sea Sports we sell equipment that we believe in! We maintain current knowledge through regular tradeshow visits. This enables us to keep up on the latest trends to make sure we can offer the very best diving gear available in all price ranges. We also offer Thursday evening beach dives during the summer months.
Sea Sports also has one of the best rental fleets. From Atomic and Scubapro regulators, to split fins and steel tanks, we rent the highest quality gear. We rent the gear that we train on and dive with ourselves.
All rentals are for a 24 hour period.
Weekly and weekend rates are available.
No one denies that diving is an equipment intensive sport. In few other sports do you rely so heavily on your equipment as a life support system. For this reason, we suggest that divers select the best equipment they can afford, and we enable everyone to do so through our Rental Purchase Program.

RENTAL PURCHASE
We offer a rental purchase plan to ease the financial process of purchasing your own Scuba gear. Under this plan, a portion of the money you pay towards rentals goes directly to the purchase of new gear. It is a convenient opportunity that allows you to continue increasing your diving experience through rentals, while still working towards personal ownership.
SCUBA REPAIRS
Our knowledgeable repair technicians have over 30 years experience working on scuba gear. We pride ourselves on completing repairs correctly and on time, and we have all the know-how and parts to get you going again. We offer:
- Tank fills
- Hydro testing
- Visual cylinder inspections
- Visual plus inspections
- Rebuilds on all makes and models of regulators
- Tank valves
- BC service
Our repair technicians are factory trained and are among the best in the industry.
Snorkel Products
Snorkeling is the foundation of our business, and we strive to provide the best service and products available. Whether a snorkel swimmer, traveler, or experienced free diver we have a huge selection of masks, snorkels, and fins to fit everyone, toddlers on up! We have everything you might need for your adventure, including sun shirts, sun screen, snorkel vests, garments to keep you warm, and every possible accessory you could think of.

Our motto is "we cater to the casual snorkeler" and we mean it!
At Sea Sports we stock the Cape's widest variety of snorkeling equipment so that we can accommodate everyone's size, budget, and skill level.

All gear is professionally fitted and we stand behind what we sell. Corrective lenses and purge assemblies are available for all masks.
Boat Maintenance and Storage
General care: Rinse your boat with fresh water after use. It is especially important to remove all sand and dirt from the foot pegs, foot peg tracks, and skeg or rudders. Paddles should also be rinsed with fresh water and stored separated to keep the weld smooth and in good shape. Bilge pumps and sponges can help you keep your kayak free of excess water and dirt. You can also use a UV protectant spray on your kayak to help prevent the color from fading.
Storage: If you store your boat outside, use a cockpit cover or spray skirt to keep rain, leaves, and bugs out or keep the kayak stored upside down. It is ideal to use a sling or bar system if storing the boat inside. We have several options here at the shop.
Carrying: If you are carrying your kayak with someone else, each person can take an end. Bend down to pick up the kayak by bending your knees and keeping your back straight. This will protect your back from long-term injury. Hold the kayak by the keel, especially if you have a fiberglass or kevlar boat, or if it the hatches are loaded. The handles of a kayak are there to help carry but shouldn't be relied on, as they can break. If you are carrying your kayak alone, stand next to the cockpit and grab the combing closest to you. Bend your knees and pull the boat up onto your thighs. Then, reach to the opposite side of the cockpit and pull it up onto your shoulder. Make sure to keep your knees bent and your back straight! To unload, do the same steps in reverse order.

Favorite Local Kayak Spots
Centerville River, Osterville/Centerville
Put in at Dowses Beach in Osterville, cross East Bay, and follow the river. Be careful to avoid the shipping lanes and boat traffic, it can get crowded in the summer months. If the Centerville River seems too crowded for your comfort, half way up you can turn left under the bridge and paddle up Bumps River into Scudder Bay. Both Centerville and Bump's River end in a marshy area, so it will be clear where it ends. These paddles take about 3 hours roundtrip depending of course on tides, traffic, and how fast you are paddling.
http://mapq.st/rjDQAX
Parkers River, Yarmouth
Put in at Swan Pond in Yarmouth. Cross the pond and follow the river towards the ocean. There is a bridge under Rte 28 halfway down that you can manage to cross at low tide, but be aware of the tides because if you return at high tide you'll have to cross the road with your boat! The river is a mellow and beautiful area, with an osprey nest and several opportunities to observe the wildlife. It should take about 2-3 hours round trip.
http://mapq.st/ojXBRF
Hathaway's Pond, Barnstable
Hathaway's requires a Barnstable sticker or $10. This pond is a great place for beginners. The pond also has walking and running paths along the outside. It's flat and pretty small, so you can practice crossing the pond or follow the edges to practice your turns.
http://mapq.st/nJr4BU
Hamblin's Pond, Marstons Mills
This is another good flat pond for beginners. It's fairly large and doesn't get as crowded as Hathaways.

Prince Cove
Prince Cove is a scenic paddle for kayakers of all ages and abilities. Osprey towers, flourishing marshes and a hot spot for catch and release striper fishing, Prince Cove is one of Barnstable's best kept paddling secrets. This calm estuary is a great place to bring kids and adults for a memorable paddle or a glimpse of what makes a Cape Cod summer so special.

About Us
About Cape Cod Sea Sports
History
A small family run business, Sea Sports has continued to grow each year since our opening in the spring of 1992. Jim Craddock, the founder and original owner, has passed the business on to his only son Jeff Craddock. Jim's experience and influence are still very much a part of what Sea Sports is today. With the help of many great people, Sea Sports continues to thrive on the Cape.
Our Staff:
Jeff Craddock
I was born and raised here on the Cape and have been playing outside my entire life. Having Sea Sports allows me to share my passion of the Cape and sports with others. I have been diving New England waters since 1984' and have been a Scuba instructor since 94'. I'm currently a DiveMaster/Divecon Instructor trainer with both NAUI and SSI. I'm also an avid paddler and have been coaching and guiding paddlers throughout Cape Cod and New England waters since 97'. I enjoy sharing my passion of the water with others.
I also have been an avid and competitive cyclist for most of my life. I have participated and competed in everything from cross state bicycling tours, to European stage races, national championships, and even expedition length adventure races. I hold a USA cycling category 1 racing license in two disciplines. I'm friendly and eager to share my passion and knowledge with you. I enjoy teaching people how to fit a mask, hold a paddle, or adjust saddle height as much as I do anything here at Sea Sports. Please stop by Sea Sports and say hello!
Gary Craddock
Gary has over 40 years experience in the dive industry and has received many awards for his contributions to the sport. Among Diving's Elite he received the coveted Platinum Pro 5000 Diver Award back in 1994. A master repair technician, Gary has more experience and knowledge with all brands of scuba gear than most anyone left in the scuba industry. As an SSI Instructor Certifier he can offer scuba instructor courses to those who wish to become a diving professional.
Christopher Olsen
Chris took his first Open Water Scuba class with us back in 1994 and 'caught the bug'. Since then he has moved up through the ranks and is a valued member of our Instructor team. He is the Fire Chief for Cotuit Fire Department. Chris has a great personality, and we are lucky to have him on the team. His enthusiasm for the sport and positive attitude are infectious.
Christopher Ranney
Chris is also one of our professional instructors. He has a real passion for diving and teaching, and has extensive local and warm water diving experience. As a SSI advanced open water instructor, CPR/First Aid Instructor, Dan O2 provider instructor, and repair tech. He has a wealth of knowledge to share.
Brendan Russo
Brendan has worked at the shop for the past four years. An avid kayak fisherman, Brendan is very knowledgeable in the area of fishing kayaks and kayaking in general. He took the ACA Level 2 Certification in May 2008 and is looking forward to furthering his paddling expertise. Also a diligent student of diving, Brendan is a certified open water diver as well as stress and rescue. Brendan's love and passion for the water is also evident in the snorkel tours that he leads. He recently acquired a shiny new Cannondale Synapse and is excited to expand his biking expertise. Brendan aspires to be a scuba instructor, and always puts a smile on your face.
Matt Lounsbury
Matt brings knowledge of bikes, scuba gear, and kayaks as well as a strong work ethic. When he's not setting school records on the Barnstable High track team, he's riding his Cannondale CAAD 10. Matt is always willing to answer your questions or point you in the right direction. He looks forward to continuing to enhance his expertise at Sea Sports.
Kelly Denham
Kelly has been a valued member of Sea Sports since 2007. She is a senior at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, swimming, and recreational biking. This past summer she added stand up paddling to her repertoire. Kelly is excited to share her knowledge with you today!
Jim Craddock

We also offer lessons and tours so you can get the most out of your kayak experience.
You’re paddling up curvy Lonetree Creek in Yarmouth Port on a crystal clear summer morning, your kayak skimming over the water’s surface as a crane gulps minnows from the creek side marsh grass and an osprey floats overhead on a warm breeze. You spin around and ride the tide back out and paddle across Barnstable Harbor for a beach picnic at the tip of Sandy Neck, amazed and privileged to be exploring the natural beauty of Cape Cod in a way that so few do.
Scuba & Snorkeling
Sea Sports has everything you need for your underwater adventure. A full range of SCUBA equipment, wetsuits and dry suits are available for both rental and purchase. We also offer an extensive line of masks and snorkels for snorkelers and divers alike, fitting toddlers on up. We offer professional fitting services on all the gear that we sell, including masks. Already have your gear? Well join us for our Scuba lessons, Thursday evening beach dives, or a Snorkeling tour or lesson.
Returning from a perfect morning dive in Cape Cod Bay with lobster for this evening’s meal, you stop by Hamblin’s Pond to rinse off and take the kids snorkeling. You remember when you first started, amazed that the waters around the Cape hold such a variety of life. Your little ones are equally impressed with their sightings of rainbow trout, small mouth bass, tadpoles, and even a prehistoric looking snapping turtle. In a few years you will be bringing them down to Sea Sports for the Scuba Certification Course, but for now they are content to listen to your stories after they towel off.
Cycling
Cape Cod is a cyclist’s dream destination, with nationally acclaimed bike paths, challenging mountain bike trail systems, and wide-shouldered roads that hug the coastline and criss-cross the peninsula’s rolling terrain. Sea Sports has the perfect bike for whatever cycling adventure you’re craving. From carbon-fiber dream road and mountain bikes to canal cruising hybrids, Sea Sports has the best selection, price, mechanics, and service, which is why so many cycling families, Category 1 racers, and the Cape Cod Mountain Bike Race Team choose Sea Sports as their personal cycling shop.
The Shining Sea bike path rolls easily beneath your wheels as you and a friend zoom along the Falmouth coastline. Breathtaking views of Vineyard Sound keep you company all the way to Woods Hole, where a welcome rest and a warm drink await. As you leave the cafe, you tip your helmet to a group of grinning mountain bikers fresh from a romp through the challenging trail system near Otis Air Force Base. A stunning sunset paces the last leg of your ride, and you finish your scenic journey with a spirited sprint and a satisfied smile that lasts for hours.
Repairs
Sea Sports stands behind the quality of the products we sell. Inevitably, though, equipment wears out and repairs are needed. We will assess your equipment’s problem, advise you of the solution(s) and estimated cost, and complete any repairs thoroughly and as promptly as possible. Our repair mission is simple: treat every customer as we would want to be treated, and treat every piece of equipment as if it is our own.
