MIRACLE LAYER We've never been happy with the traditional nylon/Lycra construction of most seamless base layers, which tend to hold a lot of moisture. We engineered this Core Seamless with a mixture of polyester and polypropylene that moves the moisture away from your body with absolutely minimal moisture uptake. The fabric is soft next to your skin and provides great temperature regulation in mild conditions. Does gravel need a new dress code? maybe, but with fat tires and big-tubed bikes with bags on them, an aero jersey just doesn't look right. Don't Limit Yourself We made this short to meet Castelli's high standards for comfort and performance in a cycling short while adding a few extra features that come in handy for riding on any surface. You'll find our normal exceptional fit as well as the KISS Air2 seat pad, which provides generous anatomically placed padding with an exceptionally soft top layer. What makes this short special is the extremely durable Unlimited Lycra fabric. It has higher abrasion resistance and tear resistance while not compromising on stretch, moisture management or comfort. In addition, we use double-layer side panels for the old track rider's trick of fabric-sliding-on-fabric should you fall. This short isn't really meant to be indestructible, but it significantly increases the chances that sliding out on gravel will mean you need to just brush yourself off rather than having to buy a new pair of shorts. The ideal tight for most of your winter riding, the Velocissimo is focused on comfort for riding in mild to cool conditions. We've used our Thermoflex fabric for most of the tight. It's not our warmest fabric, nor does it repel water like Nano Flex, but it is the softest, stretchiest winter tight fabric. The comfort is immediate and lasting. For the lower leg from just below the knee, we switch to our Nano Flex fleeced stretch-woven fabric that's both warm and highly water repellent for protection against spray coming off wet roads. You could call this a "convergence" product. A few years back we pioneered the first Omloop thermal short, inspired by pro riders cutting off their knee warmers to just the bend of the knee at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on a brisk sunny morning. We set about making a bibshort cut right to the bend of the knee and realized that we could make it without a gripper elastic and that the extra 10 centimeters of fabric adds a lot of warmth. Those first Omloop shorts were made for cool, dry conditions, like the race that inspired them, using our Thermoflex fabric. Fast-forward to 2020 and the new third generation of our Nano Flex fabric is as soft, stretchy, breathable, and warm as our Thermoflex fabric, so now we can make this short ideal for cool and dry conditions, but it's also excellent on wet days. Meticulous Evolution The Free Aero Race 4 Bibshort is our top race short, which also means that it's insanely comfortable even if you never pin on a number. The original Free Aero Race Bibshort was first introduced over a decade ago and has logged literally millions of kilometers under the backsides of our sponsored pro riders and has been the best-selling short both in the Castelli retail collection and in our Servizio Corse custom program. Over this time the short has undergone numerous updates and improvements in the never-ending quest to create the best short we can make. HOW COME NO ONE EVER MADE A BETTER GABBA? In 2010 Castelli introduced the Gabba to the pros and changed the way pros race in the rain. And cold. And ride in training. Every other performance cyclist soon saw the need for a Gabba in his or her wardrobe. We've made some minor updates along the way, but for the fourth-generation Gabba we started with a clean slate to make a significant upgrade. That involved moving it to water resistance, which meant developing a new exclusive GORE-TEX INFINIUM WINDSTOPPER fabric. We made the front-facing fabric warmer with a light brushing, while the rear-facing fabrics are lighter yet more water repellent than the previous Gabba. We made it better in the rain through seam sealing on the shoulders and a covered zipper. Based on Team Ineos testing we figured it's better to have two pockets that are easier to access with gloved hands, though we provide an internal sleeve to keep your pump or other items from moving around. It's not easy to make a better Gabba. Innovative evolution The Free Aero RC Bibshort is our top race short, which also means that it's insanely comfortable even if you never pin on a number. It's fair to say that we've been working on this short for the past 15 years.
